Structure for Book Review

A review critically evaluates a book, where the reviewer discusses its content, themes, and overall impact. Reviews should clearly and concisely describe the book and its thesis, situate it within the relevant literature, and present its contribution to the field. The review should consider how the book meets its objectives and draws on relevant source material.

The analytical and interpretative quality of the review, its capacity for synthesis, exposition, and knowledge of the topic will be considered in the editor’s final decision to publish the review. The length of book reviews should not exceed 3000 words. Authors may submit their paper in any scholarly format or layout (format-free submission), but the structure should follow the guidelines as follows:

  • Present the “Book Title; Book author’s first name and last name [separation by commas in the case of several authors]; Place of publication: Publishing house, year of publication. ISBN and, if available, DOI”.
  • Reviewer’s name, affiliation, i.e., institution (department), city (state), country. An active e-mail address is needed for the corresponding author.
  • Main text should contain the article’s body and may be divided into subsections.

Here are some questions that you might consider writing the review:

  1. To whom is the book aimed, and does it fulfill the demands of the intended readership?
  2.  What new insights does it offer, and how might these insights impact the readers’ work?
  3. What evidence does it present, and how convincing is it?
  4. Is there any research, details, or concepts the writers have not considered?
  5. Do you have any recommendations for more reading?
  6. And last but not least, why should or shouldn’t anyone read this book? Is this a significant book?
