Publication Process
Publication Process
The publication of articles in Pengabdian Inovasi Sains (PISA) is based on the academic quality, relevance, and contribution of the manuscript, as evaluated by editors and peer reviewers. The journal acknowledges the valuable contributions and constructive feedback provided by its reviewers in improving manuscript quality.
Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening (desk review) by the editorial team within approximately 1–2 weeks. This stage evaluates the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, originality, and compliance with author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to expert reviewers for further evaluation. The peer review process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.
Type of Peer Review
PISA applies a single-blind peer review process, in which the reviewers know the identity of the authors, while the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
Review Reports
Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:
- Clearly states objectives and research gaps
- Is methodologically sound and appropriate for implementation
- Follows ethical guidelines
- Presents results/findings clearly and supports conclusions
- Properly cites relevant literature
Reviewers are not responsible for copyediting or language correction.
Editorial Decision
Reviewers provide recommendations to the editor, who is responsible for making the final decision. The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor makes decisions based on reviewer reports and may consult with the editorial board when necessary. The final decision of the editor is binding.
PISA adopts the following editorial decisions:
- Accepted
- Accepted with minor revisions
- Accepted with major revisions
- Rejected
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments before final acceptance.
Grounds for Rejection
A manuscript may be rejected for several reasons, including:
- The manuscript is outside the journal’s scope
- Failure to follow author guidelines
- Significant methodological or conceptual flaws
- Lack of originality or contribution
- Failure to respond to reviewer comments without valid justification
- Evidence of plagiarism exceeding the acceptable similarity threshold (maximum 25%, excluding references and properly cited content)
